Tony David

Since getting his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago in 2000, Anthony David has been working as a scholar, translator, and biographer, mostly in Israel.  His first biography was The Patron, the story of the entrepreneur and publisher, Salman Schocken. For Harvard University Press, he has translated, edited, and introduced two volumes on the German-Israeli scholar Gershom Scholem.  His book on the Palestinian activist Sari Nusseibeh (Once Upon a Country, FSG 2007) was voted one of the best books of 2007 by the Christian Science Monitor and Amazon. His most recent book, An Improbable Friendship, was published in October 2015.
